Tomorrow is an ACSA Meeting, which appears to have the potential to show where we are headed as a community. A lot has been thrown into the pot of possibilities that have been broached to the Residents, e.g. –
- Searching for a Golf Management company to oversee the golf course.
- A Suggestion that the Aqua Bar Grill may need a tune up with some professional outside assistance.
- Our Reserves for Replacement and Repair have finally been recognized to be addressed with more funding.
- AGI (Aquarina Golf, Inc.) has been noted to maybe be re-addressed for its purpose in the community. Keep in mind that AGI is the henchman for the cabal of folks that consistently use the golf course, restaurant, and to a small extent the tennis facility. An “arm’s length” relationship among these folks in their use of these amenities does not appear to always exist. As a result, other than the tennis operation, the golf and restaurant businesses continually need subsidy assistance, which means the Residents funds, to keep businesses afloat. An alternative has been suggested where the Residents pay higher maintenance fees, of which a fraction of these fees provide a credit to spend at the restaurant. We’ll see what emerges at the Meeting.
These are impactful matters, which appear to be a focus of concern – finally, I may add. Regarding tomorrow’s Board Meeting, it may be prudent to attend or login. Among the agenda items are what is below.
VIII. New Business
a. Ratify Approval of Unanimous Action by Written Consent in Lieu of a Meeting –
Operations & Management of Golf, Tennis, and Related Facilities October 19, 2026
b. Consideration and Approval of the 2027 Budget & Assessments
If anyone is out there understands VIII (a), then let me know.
The Budget is somewhat detailed with confusing explanations of what is presented, and it does not show a clear picture of where and how the moneys are spent, and Financial Statements are nowhere to be found, e.g. –
- Accounting fees have taken a huge jump, and like attorneys, there are many ways to explain a situation from which a payer-client can choose, all paid by the hour. Hmm.
- Lacking from the Aquarina Financials as provided by its website are Profit and Loss Statements and Balance Sheets on the restaurant, golf, and tennis operations.
- The Lakeside Pool’s $300,000 assessment does not appear in the Budget and there is no accounting on the Pool’s renovation costs. Was it co-mingled with the Aquarina General Reserve, which has been flagged as somewhat insufficient by the Reserve Study, for which we paid? Hmm.
This Aquarina ACSA and AGI debacle is all politics. There is a strongly knit of folks, i.e. the cabal, who control the community. They are organized and have kept a majority of Board Directors for each election. Street chatter is they will approach an acolyte candidate to run, and assure the acolyte person, he or she will get voted in. Hmm.
Consider the failed voting that has occurred with the Board of Directors trying to have more Board candidates from the same neighborhood. They’re wanting to increase the pool of acolytes bypassing any existing bylaws limiting the number of candidates from one neighborhood.
A REMEDY?
Rather than gathering alternative Board of Directors, who would represent all the Residents for the betterment of the whole community, to run for a Board position, there may be a simple measure, where the result will be to control the current Board’s reckless and selfish spending. There is a road to take that can accomplish this objective.
See the next Post for an explanation of how to finally gain financial control of our Aquarina Community.
